The Power in God’s spoken Word

The Power in God’s spoken Words
Genesis 1:3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
The other day me and my husband were having a discussion about our favorite verses in the Bible. I ask him what his favorite verse was, and his response was, Genesis 1:3. I ask him why this was his favorite verse, his answer not only stunned me but it humbled me too. He replied, it’s because this verse holds so much power, it’s a reminder that what God speaks will comes into existence.

For me I was looking at verses like, Philippians 4:13, 1 Samuel 17:45, Isaiah 41:10, but my husband’s verse is one that holds such power, that we must truly have faith to believe. This verse also is a reminder that God spoke not just the world into existence, but He formed mankind out of dust. We often dig through the Bible for a verse to give us hope, strength and build our faith. When all along the reminder that light came from the same source that our beating hearts did, is sometimes the only reminder we need.

Genesis is a book that is often criticize and label by many skeptics as fiction. They have a hard time believing God spoke our entire livelihood into existence. If you can nail down Genesis and believe in the power of creation. Then you can obtain belief in Jesus, who will give you strength to face a giant, hope that helps you overcome fears and belief that you can do all things, through Christ.

Faith starts with believing not just in the power of God’s written Word, but His spoken words too! Being reminded that God spoke the sun, moon and stars into existence, reminds me that He still speaks things into existence, my answered prayers show this truth.
Lord, it is great to be daily reminded by Your creation of how powerful Your spoken word is. I pray to always be reminded by Genesis that You will always speak blessings, provision, guidance and abilities into existence. You are not finished with me yet, and the best is yet to come, in Jesus name I pray, Amen.

Staying Faithful to God in The World

Staying Faithful to God in The World
Daniel 3:17 If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king.
Why do we look around as if God is not enough? Why do we get easily shaken when life takes a turn in the wrong direction? Why do we not ask, seek or knock? If God can deliver three men out of the fiery furnace leaving them without a burn mark, or a single hair on their head singed and not even smelling like smoke. He is able to bring us through our fiery furnace. Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-nego never once took their eyes off God and stayed faithful servants to Him, even when they were placed in a different culture. How easy it could have been for them to turn away from God and worship idols, eat unclean foods and participate in the Kingdom’s worldliness. Instead these three men remain faithful servants to God, worshipping Him, eating the diet He had given them. They even refused to bow down to the ninety foot statute of King Nebuchadnezzar, knowing they would be thrown into the fire for their refusal. We believers live in the same worldly culture as these three servants of God in the book of Daniel. Like them we have to make choices for our walk with Christ, even if it may cause us to be thrown in a fiery furnace of persecution. How easy it can be to mingle and mix with those of this world to make life easier for us. But God did not call us out for an easy life, He called us out to be the light of Christ. Jesus’ life was not easy while here on earth, He was placed in many positions, where He was challenged and persecuted, but He remained faithful to God. We need to look to our Lord and Savior as the greatest example of walking humbly in God while living in a worldly culture, shinning His light to save the lost even with the opposition that came against Him.
Lord, I know You have called me out to be the light of Jesus to shine in the darkest of dark. I pray that I will not mingle myself with the world to make life easier, but rather stand out and shine bright. Lord I pray to daily fed on Your Word and be strength Christ through prayer in order to be a lighthouse for the lost, in Jesus name I pray, Amen

Stay In Christ-like Character

Stay In Christ-like Character
Matthew 9:10 And it came to pass, as Jesus sat at meat in the house, behold, many publicans and sinners came and sat down with him and his disciples.
I am a proud mom of a teen, and we all know the heartaches that come with this stage in their lives. A situation came up the other day with my teen, that caused me to think about this scene in the book of Matthew. Jesus had sinners come and sit with Him and never did He change His character of who He was among them. The Pharisees were quick to point out the company He was sitting with, (Matthew 9:11.) Jesus quickly assured them, He came to deliver the sick, (lost) and not the proud who thought they were righteous, such as the Pharisees, (Matthew 9:12-13.) My daughter has friends who are not saved and she struggles with their worldly influences they bring into her life. I used Jesus as an example to explained to her that those who are lost will sit with us, but we are to remain like Christ in shine our light to those who are lost. This left me wondering how do I reflect Christ when I am companied by lost relatives, do I change my character to suit the atmosphere? Like my teen, I too need to take this example of Jesus, and remain the light in company of darkness. Sometimes God places us where it is the darkest, so our light will shine bright for Jesus.
Heavenly Father thank You for this message. It is a much needed reminder of who I am in Christ and His reflection I must give off. Lord like my child, I will be companied by lost people, I pray I will not alter my character to better suit those who sit by me. Lord use me and my children to light up the darkness and point our lost family and friends to Christ, in Jesus name I pray, Amen.

Evidence of Being a Child of Light

Evidence of Being a Child of Light
Ephesians 5:8 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:
Make no mistake about it, when you get saved, you will also get a life long enemy, Satan. He is the accuser of the brethren and will use those closest to you to cause you to stumble and fall in your testimony. Before I gave my life to Christ I was called many things, bitter, angry, hateful, nagging, mean, rude, manipulative, aggressive. Yesterday I was in the center of Satan’s court room being questioned by a loved one. When the verdict came in the words that were suppose to cause me to stumble and fall, actually built my faith even stronger. I was accused of having God in the center of everything that I do in my life. The words Joseph spoke to his brother in Genesis 50:20, echoed loudly to the devil by my God Himself, “what you meant for evil toward her, I used for her good, and to glorify me!” I no longer walk in the darkness and have not for years; I am now and have been a child of God who shines for Jesus in all that I do. When I was placed on trial I had enough evidence to convict me as being a child of light.
Most gracious Heavenly Father, thank You for never leaving my side as I am being attacked by the devil. Thank You for standing in the way of the fiery darts as he shoots them at me. Lord I am so thankful for my salvation and that I am no longer in the darkness, but now I walk as a child of light, in Jesus name I pray, Amen.

What Lived for Christ Will Last

What Lived for Christ Will Last
Ephesians 5:8 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:
C.T Studd a missionary pioneer wrote:

Only one life, t’will soon be past;

Only what’s done for Christ will last.
For many years in my life I walked in the darkness and not with Christ. Everything I did was out of true selfishness. The pleasures I chased after was for my flesh to keep it happy; while deep inside I longed for something more, only Jesus could give me. I look back on my life before Christ and every bit of that was nothing but wasted time. Today I reflected on C.T Studds simple, but powerful words, and it leaves me with one intention. To live my life now to the fullest for Christ from here on out. Even though I have been walking with Jesus now for over 4 years, I have still wasted too much precious time that belongs to Jesus. There is a lost and hurting world all around me that needs Jesus. If I am not being that vessel for Christ, then my light is not shining, my feet and hands aren’t moving and my heart is not searching. We don’t have to go far to share the gospel, our neighborhoods, towns, family members..etc need to hear all about Jesus and His saving grace, we just have to GO! We Christians no longer walk in the dark, we need to stop wasting time, and start living a life that when it is past, what all lived for Christ will last.
Heavenly Father, thank You for dropping this messed into my heart today. It is message that all us believers need to be reminded daily. We no longer live in darkness, we are our Your children, and we need to act like it. Today as I walk out my front door to greet the world, Lord I pray to be Your hands and feet. I pray today my walk will be a light that shines in the darkness of another’s life who needs Christ. Lord I pray to put aside my own needs daily so that my works for Christ will be what last, in Jesus name I pray, Amen.

FAITH < fear

FAITH < fears
2 Timothy 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
Praise God my daughter returned home tonight safety from Louisiana, where she spent almost a week at church camp. This makes her third year to attend Southland camp. Each year she comes home, her light for Jesus is shinning a little brighter. This time, she came back with a passion to read and learn God’s Word. Talk about making a momma happy!! She has shared serval verses with me that she learned, but the one she loves the most and that has impacted her is “2 Timothy 1:7.” I ask her how this verse spoke to her. (She answered so boldly, I am without fear because God is always with me. I am going to shine my light for Jesus bright this year at school, because God has given me the power to do just that. I am going to love like Jesus, and that includes my family, friends and strangers. She also said, that she is able to have peace of mind with these choices to stand up for God, because of who she is in Jesus.) WOW! My heart is so full right now of complete joy, I am humble and blessed beyond measure to witness what God is doing to my teenage daughter, who is hungry for His Word. Youth camp is so important for our teens, they need time away from the world and soaking in God and His Word.
Heavenly Father I have no words that could ever speak of how thankful I am for the thirst my daughter came home from camp with. She is hungry for Your Word, and I pray to help her nourish her heart and mind daily with the Bible. I pray that her light will shine brightly for You each day, and especially at school this coming fall. Lord give her the wisdom she desires and needs to influences others who need to hear about Christ, in Jesus name I pray, Amen.

Living Stonger for Christ

Living Stronger for Christ!
Acts 9:20 And straightway he preached Christ in the synagogues, that he is the Son of God.
Saul may have immediately went straight to the synagogues and started preaching; the second he received his sight and was baptized, (Acts 9:18.) But all those that heard him preach, we’re not immediately convinced that this man who once sought out to persecute them, was now preaching along side them, (Acts 9:20.) Saul, who was no longer a man of violence and anger toward Christians, was now a new man in Christ with a new name “Paul,” and with a new mission. His mission was to now go tell ALL the Gentiles about Jesus Christ, the Son of God and His death on the cross from their sins too, (Acts 9:15.) The passion Paul once had for destroying the name of Jesus and all His followers; was now converted into a new passion to bring glory to Christ’s name and encourage others to follow after Jesus. Paul’s testimony of how he instantly went from killer to an apostle of Christ, became his new identity and brought many to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. Each one of us have a testimony, whether we were saved at 9 years old or 30 years old, we all once walked in the darkness. Some of our testimonies have more details in them, that may bring shock to others when they hear of our conversion in Christ. The question is, are we gonna be like Paul and boldly preach the gospel of Jesus; even unto those who knew us from our former life before Christ? Is our passion now to live stronger for Christ, than we did for the darkness in our past life?
Lord, thank You for my salvation. I praise You, Jesus that I no longer live for the world, but now I live passionately each day to reflect You. Lord I pray that my testimony will always bring You glory in the eyes of those who know my past, and to the ears of those who hear of my Damascus encounter with You Lord, in Jesus name I pray, Amen.

Who Do You Reflect?

Who Do You Reflect?

Exodus 34:28-29 And he was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights; he did neither eat bread, nor drink water. And he wrote upon the tables the words of the covenant, the ten commandments. And it came to pass, when Moses came down from mount Sinai with the two tables of testimony in Moses’ hand, when he came down from the mount, that Moses wist not that the skin of his face shone while he talked with him.

Moses was in the very presence of our Lord almighty for over a month. God was pouring knowledge, wisdom and Himself into Moses. When he came down off the mount, his face shined brightly, leaving the Israelites afraid to even look at him because they knew he had been with God, (Exodus 34:30). When we become children of God and spend time with Him in His Word, prayer and presence daily; this world should see that evidence by our light that shines bright for Christ, (Matthew 5:14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid). So many people come out of a worship service the same way they went in, with a depressed, bitter, dull look; not a single word the pastor spoke penetrated their heart. They go through the motions of serving the kingdom of God in different areas of church with the same look of anger upon their face; often warning people off. If we haven’t had a heart transplant by the Word and presence of God; then our face still shows evidence of the world on it. By the light in your eyes and the shine to your face, this world should be able to tell you are a child of God and spend time daily with Him in prayer, presence and in His Word. We draw others to Christ by our face we give off to this world. Take a good look in the mirror of the Bible today; do you have a face of Jesus or a face of this bitter world?

Heavenly Father I praise You for my salvation through my Savior Jesus Christ. I pray to grow daily in Your Word and draw closer to You through prayer and through Your presences become a light for this lost world. I pray that when others see me, they don’t see stresses of the world, but rather a reflection of Christ, in Jesus name I pray, Amen.

Be A Light In Your City!

Be A Light In Your City!

Matthew 5:14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid.

Tonight I attended the annual Cleburne Tx, CHRISTmas parade. Through all the bright Christmas lights, songs blaring from car radio’s or a stereo on the float. The brightest lights were the numerous amount of churches in the parade shouting “Jesus Loves You!” What an awesome way to get the gospel out to a city that is gathered in one place. This is our mission as the children of God to present the gospel in anyway that we can! There are many opportunities just waiting to be open, we have to keep our eyes and ears open for the chance. Marching down the street with all eyes on you is a great way to be the light that shines brightly to a city in need of a Savior.

Heavenly Father I praise You for the many churches that took a stand for Christ in the parade. I pray that more of us believers will be bold and shine our lights brightly as well to a lost world, wherever You place us. I pray to be a light and to profess the love of Christ to the lost, in Jesus name, Amen.

The Light Of The World

The Light Of The World

Isaiah 42:6 I the LORD have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles;

God did not just call us out to be righteously saved for our own well being. He has plucked us out of the darkness to be a light in this world. Our story does not end, but yet begins at the alter of salvation. We are to stand out in this lost world shining our candle brightly, for others to see Christ. (Matthew 4:14-16 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven). God has begin great works in us as His disciples, we have our marching orders to go out into the mission fields of the schools, out jobs, homes of family members, neighbors & friends and social media..etc and shout out the glorious redemption plan of Christ for all to hear, (Matthew 28:19-20.) Every second you blend into this world and shy away from the opportunity to share the gospel, that is still another soul bound for hell.

Heavenly Father I pray to be a well lite candle shinning bright for Your glory. I pray to take every opportunity of each new day with the resources I have to share the gospel. Lord I pray to have the eyes, ears and heart of Christ so I will not blend in but stand out to lead another soul to my Savior; bound for heaven, in Jesus name I pray, Amen.
